This policy explains what personal information we collect through viksharma.com, why we collect it, how we look after it and the rights you have over it. viksharma.com is the website of Mr Vik Sharma, Medical Director of London Ophthalmology Centre.
Who we are
This website is run by London Ophthalmology Centre Limited, company number 05657299, registered office 45 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5JG. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through this website.

What we collect
When you send an enquiry through the form, we collect:
- your name and email address
- your phone number, if you give it
- what you would like help with, and your message
- the page you sent the enquiry from
Please only include health details in your message if you would like us to use them to answer your enquiry. Anything you tell us about your health is special category information, and we handle it with extra care.
When you visit the site, Google Analytics records how it is used: the pages you view, your approximate location (town or city), your device and browser type, and how you arrived. It does not tell us who you are.
Your settings: your cookie settings, light or dark theme and text size are stored on your own device. They are not sent to us.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
- To answer your enquiry and arrange an appointment. Our lawful basis is taking the steps you have asked us to take before providing care. For any health details you include, it is your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a useful website. Analytics is on from your first visit, and you can switch it off at any time in Cookie settings at the foot of every page.
We do not use your information for advertising or marketing, we do not build profiles of visitors, and we never sell your information.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with the services that help us run the website and answer you:
- Zapier (Zapier, Inc.), which passes your enquiry from the form to our reception inbox.
- Our email provider, where enquiries are received and answered.
- Google Analytics (Google), which counts visits. Google signals and all data sharing with Google are switched off, and Google Analytics does not store IP addresses.
- Our website host, which keeps the site online and keeps standard server logs.
The site also shows content from other providers. The patient ratings panel is loaded from Doctify. Our location maps only load from Google Maps if you choose Show map. Our fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to fetch them. Each of these providers receives your IP address when its content loads. See the cookie policy for details.
Once you become a patient, your medical records are covered by the London Ophthalmology Centre patient privacy notice.
Transfers outside the UK
Zapier and Google may process information in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK-US data bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: for as long as we need to respond, and for up to two years after our last contact with you. If you become a patient, your records are kept in line with the rules for medical records.
- Google Analytics: two months, after which it is deleted automatically.
- Settings on your device: until you change them or clear your browser storage.
Keeping it safe
The site and the enquiry form use an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Only the people who need your information to answer you can see it.

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
- delete your information
- limit how we use it, or object to us using it
